A downloadable tool

Welcome to the first (as far as I know) FREE digital mini painter! This is a beta release, and while it’s fully functional, there are still a few clear limitations. That said, you can load any STL or GLTF file, paint it, and export your work. Exported files are in .gltf format (since .stl doesn’t support color).

To get started, download the executable. The additional files are just some preview images of the program interface and an example Sonic mini I base-coated. Feel free to check those out before downloading!

Most of the UI is straightforward, but here are a few notes:

- By default, you start in “Move Mode” (the button is next to "Choose File"), where you can freely drag and spin the model. Click the button to toggle to “Paint Mode.”

- If paint isn’t applying in Paint Mode, try adjusting the brush size up or down.

- If you end up stuck inside the model, switch to Move Mode and scroll-wheel down to zoom back out.

Known Issues: Redo is a bit buggy, so use Undo cautiously.

Future Features:

- Eyedropper tool to select colors directly off the model || Automatic color harvesting from .gltf painted models

- Dynamic lighting: Right now, models are brightly lit from both sides, which keeps things clear but makes highlighting tricky as you’ll need to ignore the environment’s lighting.

- Washes: Add a feature to simulate washes, letting color naturally accumulate in the recesses.

- Any features you want! Feel free to add comments or create feature requests and report bugs here: GitHub Issues https://github.com/JoeSpizz/mini-painter-v2/issues/2

Install instructions

This project is a beta that was finished in 3 days during work meetings. It's unlicensed and your machine will probably say something like "Do not trust this software". I will figure that out in the next few releases. Other than that just download and run the Mini Painting Beta.exe
